● We have the right background. DeHart & Company is a full-service public relations firm with more than 15 years of experience. We have a solid background in serving the non-fiction publishing industry. We enjoy long-term relationships with big publishers, smaller publishers, and self-published authors alike. And, yes, on occasion we work with clients who have no book at all, but hire us to promote their products and services or to grow their business.

● We are versatile. Clients call on us to publicize books in numerous categories: self-help, technology, consumer, business, selling, personal finance, spirituality, and health. From making complex business topics understandable and relevant to spinning lighter lifestyle stories the media loves, we’ve lent our expertise to a dizzying array of authors, publishers, and corporate clients. In short, our Rolodex is anything but dull…and we love the variety!

● We know what you need. And we deliver. DeHart & Company Public Relations has a very, very solid relationship with publishers and authors alike. That’s because we understand this industry and how it works. We don’t over-promise. We over-deliver. We listen carefully to you so we understand your goals for each book. And we do the best we can to not only meet them, but to exceed them.

● We help authors think long-term. Our author management skills are second to none. The initial wave of publicity once a book is published is only the beginning of the marketing process. We teach authors how to leverage their book to build their business and create robust demand for the title. Many of our clients are speakers, consultants, and industry experts.

● We work with authors in other capacities to create book platforms. For instance:
            • We develop a website that showcases the book.
            • We create a keynote presentation, complete with PowerPoint, that links back to
the book. We then get the author signed on with speakers’ bureaus.
            • We develop a one-day workshop based on the book.
            • We write a “VIP” letter that is mailed out with copies of the book (along
with an order form) to the author’s top-tier clients.

These are just a few of the ways that we create steady, long-term demand for a title and open up new marketing avenues. We make the process fun and rewarding so that authors want to continue promoting their books. We help make the potentially stressful publishing process a good experience for them.

● We’re brilliant at positioning our clients as experts in their fields. We have a knack for figuring out what is different about a book and using that knowledge to position it as the leading title in the field. Quite often, being considered a thought leader in a given industry leads an author on to bigger and better things.

We use creative story angles. We think outside the box to establish ongoing media that increases the longevity of the book. Tying into current news angles is our forte.

● We’re famous for quality hits. We know that one big hit can make all the difference in keeping a book around long-term. We have placed articles for our clients in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Associated Press Worldwide, Reuters, Tribune Syndicate, LA Times Syndicate, Time, Fortune, Forbes, Inc., Consumer Reports, Woman’s Day, Ladies Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes & Gardens, Family Circle, Cosmopolitan, Working Woman, and O, The Oprah Magazine, to name just a few. Our clients also have received broadcast coverage on National Public Radio, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Public Broadcasting Service, ABC News, FOX News, FOX Business, and Oprah.

● Just like Baby Bear’s chair, we’re the perfect size for you. We’re small and agile enough to provide unsurpassed personal attention, but large enough to get the most sophisticated job done right. We go the extra mile. Our clients feel close, connected, grounded. Our streamlined, low overhead structure allows us to carefully manage costs and provide the biggest “bang for the buck” in the industry.

● We’re flexible. We can take a comprehensive campaign from beginning to end, or just do part of a project until an author feels comfortable with us. We don’t think of ourselves as vendors looking for “piece work,” however.  We’re partners. We listen and advise. We provide a top-quality service and expect a high level of quality from our clients as well.

● Our quality and professionalism mean happy clients and repeat business. Quite often, our clients get amazing mileage from our work and are eager to repeat the experience. We’re top-notch publishing experts who help authors embrace the long-term marketing and branding of their books. That’s good news for them, for their publishers, for everyone concerned. We’ve had many, many authors tell us that we’ve helped them take their book—and their career—to a higher level than they ever thought possible.

● We’re authentic. Long ago, we made a deliberate decision to always be up-front and honest with clients. We’re not game players. We tell it like it is, even when it’s not what a client wants to hear (or, frankly, what we’d prefer to say). When they realize that we’re truthful and trustworthy, clients let their guard down and really open up to us…and that’s when our best, most creative, most rewarding work unfolds.
